What Have Been The Key Factors in Greenply's SUCCESS?

Posted by MDF Board  |  at  02:10

One of the key factors that have led us to be the market leader has, of course, been our obsession with quality in the products that we offer in the market. We have always opted to invest in the best technologies. We invested into the largest plywood manufacturing facility in the country with the highest investment ever made. We were also the first people to install a continuous press for the manufacture of Medium Density Fiberboards (MDF) in the country. We truly believe in economies of scale and this is why we opted to invest into such a large MDF plant with 600 m3/day capacity at a point when no one could imagine, that kind of quantity could be sold in the country~ We had the confidence on our distribution network, on our product quality and on our brand, that we would be able to achieve those figures and we are actually achieving those figures today.

Also the ability to take risks - we took the decision to invest into an MDF plant when the world economy was absolutely at a low point and most industries were backing out of new investments. We actually thought of it as the perfect time to make an investment. We assumed that the market economy would pick up in the coming years. It was also an opportunity to get very competitive rates in terms of our capital expenditure and our loans. It worked out beautifully for us.

These factors, our obsession with quality, willingness to take risks, our confidence in our brand, and, of course, the fact that we also command one of the strongest distribution and retail networks in the country are all key factors that have contributed to Greenply’s position today. There is a customer faith involved as well; do we stand behind our products?? Do we service them properly?? We were the first people in the country to offer lifetime-guaranteed plywood. This has resulted in a lot of goodwill for our company in the Indian market.

Solid wood v/s MDF

Posted by MDF Board  |  at  21:25

Solid wood is a wood which is cut into boards from the trunk area of the tree for making various kind of furniture. Solid wood is usually a better excellent and pricey product than one that has a veneer. Without the need of veneer which is use to cover the solid wood looks attractive. The kind of wood you select decides the elegance and durability of the finished wood piece.

Medium density fiberboard (MDF) is made up of wood fibers which are glued and compressed with synthetic resin and after that kept that mixture in heat and pressure.
Solid wood made from a wide variety of organic fibers so, Solid wood has many benefits; like it’s robust, strong and lovely in its materials. However, solid wood deals when exposed to changes in heat and humidness. Unless these circumstances are cautiously managed, doors cabinets, paneling produced from solid wood can reduce in size, crack or gear.

Medium density fiberboard i.e. MDF is a great quality, blend substance that works much better than solid wood in many areas. Made from reprocessed wood fibers and resin, MDF is machine dried out and pushed to generate dense, steady sheets.

MDF is more constant than solid wood and appears up better to changes in heat and humidity.
Solid wood boards commonly develop and contract both horizontally and vertically when temperatures and humidity rise and fall.

While in the construction of painted cabinet doors, MDF outperforms solid wood.

Solid wood has expensive price than MDF.

Both have their own properties and goodness and according to your need and budget you can choose one of them.

MDF and Different Types of Boards

Posted by MDF Board  |  at  03:11

Nowadays wood becomes the essential need of everyone, but traditional wood is so expensive and very hard to maintain so it’s time to move to MDF i.e. Medium Density Fiberboard. Wood based boards are used almost everywhere, there are three main types:-

Particle Boards: For producing particles of numbers of sizes raw materials are processed and then it is bind with the resin binder; chipboard or flexboard are the examples of this type of board.

Laminated Board: -Foe each layer there is a need of different type of wood and then it is glued together giving the wood which increased its rigidity; plywood and blockboard are example of this type of board.

Fiber Boards: Variety of fiberboard is discriminated by the proportion and type of wood fibers used the mode of drying, which kind of bonding substitute is used and which method is used to be shaped when it is pressed.

Medium Density Fiberboard is produced by a dry process at a high temperature and high pressure with the mixture of natural glues and resins contained within the wood are rendered ineffective. Formaldehyde resins are used to bonding to their constituents parts in all fiberboards. MDF therefore uses manufactured bonding agents and resins.

Feature of MDF

  • It is dense and flat
  • Can be easily manufactured, machined and cut
  • It is resourceful
  • It is Eco-friendly for nature
  • It is available in genuine price.

MDF has many advantages than the plank wood, particleboard, or other type of wood product. Its manufacture is uniform and fine and because of this it is very smooth. This create it have low tear out, which measure that when sliced, the end has a flat or smooth cut rather than a craggy edge.

Use of MDF
  • Laminate Flooring
  • Residential Furniture
  • Kitchen Cabinets
  • Doors
  • Jambs and Millwork
  • Embossing
  • Laminating
  • Moulding
What are the dangers of working with MDF boards compared to other wood products?

In the time of machining MDF it contains a mixture of softwood dust and hardwood dust there will be also be free formaldehyde .Under current regulation softwood dust, hardwood dust and formaldehyde are seems to be dangerous to health. Both softwood and hardwood dusts may cause asthma and other respiratory problems and hardwood dust can also cause a rare form of nasal cancer.

What is formaldehyde and where does it come from?

Formaldehyde is an essential organic chemical that present naturally in most forms of life, including people, some foods we eat and trees. We used formaldehyde in manufacturing of various products like shampoos, clothing, plastics, carpets, resins and glues etc.

Advantages of using MDF:
  • It is in your budget
  • It comes in various size and shapes
  • It does not contain natural defects
  • It can be easily manufacture
MDF becomes an ideal alternative to many traditional solid woods because of its unmatched features and reasonable price and now it is use for numerous purposes.

The Truths and Myths about MDF

Posted by MDF Board  |  at  00:12

MDF is a wood compound particle, bonded with a synthetic resin, which is mainly formaldehyde-based and it keep in heat and pressure for making it robust in nature and acts like a natural wood. It is used industrially in furniture and cabinet making. Medium Density Fiberboard is a category of composite wood product.

It is 100% safe once it is used to build up a finished piece of furniture, but when we have to work to cutting piece of the MDF and while we cut this some dust particles is released which are harmful so prevent from this we should Wear a mask.

The major point recognized with MDF is that its manufacturing associates a resin consisting of formaldehyde which is a known toxin and carcinogen in high concentrations. When we cut MDF for building purpose the sawdust and formaldehyde are released. Sawdust and formaldehyde are bad to smell mainly the formaldehyde; so, when the MDF gets cutting then it is advice to cut in the ventilated area or safe working environment. When MDF is machining, it is the peak time when any kind of health risk will takes place.

Medium Density Fiberboard and Traditional Wood Materials

Posted by MDF Board  |  at  04:23

Medium density fiberboard or simply called MDF is a compound wood product which is identical to particleboard. MDF is made from waste fibers glued together with resin under heat, and pressure. MDF is highly functional and can be manufactured and finished to a high standard because it is widely used in these days and as a result, MDF has replaced solid timber.

MDF has replaced all traditional wood materials used by the people because of these reasons:
  • It has excellent machining characteristics because of its density
  • It has higher moisture tolerance capacity than other tradition wood materials.
  • It is more robust in nature
  • It has fire resistance capacity more than the timber and it is aesthetically pleasing.
  • It has scratch resistance capacity.
There are some dangers occur when you work with MDF compared to other wood materials like Softwood and Hardwood products:

The environment formed by completing MDF board acquires a mix of dust of hardwood and dust of softwood. When we cut MDF board there are so many dust particles are released in which free formaldehyde are present and resin with its derivatives are also present. Formaldehyde is imperative organic chemical and mainly found at low levels, commonly lower than 0.03 parts per million in both air i.e. outdoor and indoor air and present mainly in people, foods which we eat and trees. Under current act formaldehyde, hardwood dust and softwood dust are seems to be unsafe to our fitness and health. It is dangerous for our environment and make harm for our respiratory system. It may cause irritation to the eyes and lungs.

Advantages for using MDF:
  • It is in your budget
  • It is present in various sizes and verities
  • It can be easily manufactured
  • It gives you smooth and quality surface.
  • It easily drilled without affecting its surface.
  • It is eco-friendly.
  • MDF is versatile.
Disadvantages for using MDF Board:
  • If proper safety protections are not applied then MDF can be unsafe to use.
  • MDF consist of a substance named urea formaldehyde, which are responsible for irritation to the eyes and also it affects the lungs.
  • When we cut MDF with machinery then appropriate ventilation is needed.
  • Facemasks are required the dirt released when manufacturing MDF is very injurious to health.
  • Masks and goggles should every time be frayed at all times to be safe.
  • If you do not care then material may crack so MDF can be hooked together with screws and nails.
  • MDF is not suitable for most joints
  • MDF should be fully packed to avoid toxins from spreading.
MDF is widely used in Embossing, Moulding, Laminate Flooring, Office & Residential Furniture, Kitchen Cabinets, Laminating and Finishing etc. As in the same family like particle board MDF is a constructed wood product. The major component of MDF offers many opportunities for it to be used as an alternative to solid wood and that’s the reason it is widely used in these days.

MDF and Its Properties

Posted by MDF Board  |  at  04:13

MDF is short form of medium density fiberboard because it is produced from fiberboard which is same to particle board. As opposite from veneers or particles MDF is manufactured from wood fibers which is dry-processed fiberboard. MDF is smooth from the both side and it is denser than plywood and particleboard.

Properties of MDF:-

Durability

If continually wet than the glue bond of MDF is breakdown and fungal attack may be happen so MDF is intended for use in moist. MDF Boards may be created with fungicide accompaniment or have a brush on post therapy defensive to conserve against surface form which even though are not wood spoiling , will cause a calm amount of surface deformity under wet conditions.

Moisture properties

MDF will react to alteration in concerning moisture of the environmental air. MDF should be reached the moisture level in which it is to be used. Moisture contents will usually be in the range 10 - 12% when used in buildings destined for human control.

MDF is reconstructed into wood sheets in a collection of lengths and widths. Under heat and pressure through the addition of synthetic resin adhesives the bonding of MDF is created. MDF is accessible in an inclusive range of density, dimensions and breadth based on the type of its use.
